This way you'll be prepared for anything: Use this checklist to equip yourself with everything you need.
1. Choose a portable massage or therapy table
If you don't already own a treatment table, you should invest the time to research and choose one that complements your work and impresses your clients. First, you need to decide between a portable massage table or a portable therapy table.
1.1 Folding massage tables
For mobile massages, you need a foldable massage table. These can be folded up and transported from one place to another. There are models with wooden frames, lighter ones made of aluminum, massage tables with face holes, and those with adjustable backrests. The padding and size also play a role. To give you a better overview, we'll compare two popular models.
The BASIC III Flat from ZEN Massage Ware is a classic, foldable massage table specifically designed for mobile use. It features 5.5 cm thick padding made of high-quality, fine-cell foam, as well as an adjustable headrest to relieve neck strain. The massage table also has a face opening that can be closed with a filling cushion and comes with an arm strap. This increases the comfort of your clients when treating them in a prone position. The side armrests of the BASIC III Flat further extend the lying surface.

Similar yet different: The Avalon XD portable massage table from Earthlite is also very comfortable, with 7cm thick multi-layer padding. The Avalon XD doesn't have a face hole or side armrests, but it offers something truly special: a Shiatsu option. You can fold the legs of the massage table away to lay it flat on the floor. Do you want to offer Shiatsu treatments? Then this model is perfect for you. The Avalon XD comes with a Flex-Rest headrest that adapts to the client to provide optimal neck support.
Tip: You like the Avalon XD portable massage table, but you want an arm strap? You can purchase it separately in our shop. It's suitable for all portable massage tables.

1.2 Folding therapy couches
Mobile physiotherapists have different requirements than massage therapists and therefore need special treatment tables. The padding must not be too thick, and often a face hole and an adjustable leg section are needed. A very good example of a foldable treatment table is the ZEN PhysioTop.
As its name suggests, this mobile treatment table is specifically designed to meet the needs of physiotherapists. The PhysioTop offers various options for treating your patients. Utilize the side armrests for treatments in the supine position, the face hole, and the arm loop for prone positions. The backrest of the ZEN PhysioTop can also be folded up. The 10 adjustable positions allow for different positioning. This enables you to position the patient in a seated position or to treat their feet more easily. At the same time, it makes it easier for elderly or physically limited clients to get up again.
Like the mobile massage tables, this foldable therapy table is particularly stable and height-adjustable.
Tip: All models can also be used in stationary practices. They are particularly suitable for small budgets.
2. Make the most of your opportunities
You can extend your portable therapy or massage table by adding a footrest. This attaches to the headrest opening, which is available on both sides of many ZEN Massage Ware and Earthlite models. This gives you the headrest at one end and the extension at the other. Since the footrest is easily removable, you can decide which clients need it.

The footrest is 28 cm long and available in the same colors as the ZEN massage tables. Alternatively, you can use a paper roll holder. This is also attached to the second headrest opening. The paper roll holder is width-adjustable and therefore fits all standard massage tables.
3. Protect your mobile treatment table
Hygiene is paramount. Ensure your therapy or massage table remains clean and protected at all times. Massage oil, sweat, makeup, and creams reduce its lifespan and your clients' comfort.
You can choose between a fitted sheet and paper towels. Or you can combine both: A fresh sheet is cuddly soft, and the paper towels mean you don't have to wash it after every treatment. If, on the other hand, you work with a lot of oil, we recommend a PU protective cover. These are oil- and water-repellent. Comfort, of course, remains unchanged.
Always use disposable headrest covers, whether they have a cover or not. These reliably protect your headrest from makeup and creams. They are made of soft fleece and won't leave marks on your face.
Tip: No matter how well you protect your treatment table, you should still clean it and all its accessories regularly. Disinfectants from cosiMed are effective against bacteria, fungi, and enveloped viruses. Don't forget to wash covers often enough, too.
4. Complete your equipment
Do you have everything you need now? Almost! The following items might also be useful and support you in your work:
- Electric blankets: They provide pleasant warmth and increase comfort.
- Massage oil: It nourishes the skin, smells good, and allows your hands to glide over the body.
- Rubbings: Perfect for physiotherapy. They have a similar effect to oils, but are easier to apply.
- Knee rolls: Available in various shapes and degrees of firmness. They help you position the client and relieve pressure on different parts of the body.
- Folding stools: For when you need to sit during treatment. They can be folded for transport and weigh only a few kilograms. Our folding stools are available in the same colors as the ZEN massage tables.
Check, check, and check! With this checklist, you're ready for your first home visit. We're also happy to advise you by phone or in person at our showroom in Berlin Mitte.
